F.A.Qs : Individual Book Program

1. What is an individual book project?

This project allows each student in a classroom to author a manuscript and have it bound into a full-color, hardbound book.

2. Is there a cost associated with this program?

There is a minimal cost of $6.95 plus $1.95 S&H per kit. This cost includes the following:

  • The student publishing kit
  • The binding of each manuscript into the hardbound book
  • Shipping to and from your school

3. May any grade do an individual project?

Individual books are recommended for students in grades 3-6.

4. How do I participate?

The process is easy. Simply order your student publishing kits on our website, by phone, fax or email. We ask that you reserve a press date at the time of the order. Complete your kits and return them to us with the prepaid UPS label we provide. Your published books and all the reprints will be shipped to your school. Want more information about the publishing process?

5. What is in a student publishing kit?

The kit contains all the material necessary to create an original manuscript. It consists of a title page, dedication page, all text and illustration pages, and a cover worksheet for a cover illustration. We also furnish a free lesson plan and teacher's guide to assist you.

6. What is a press date?

A press date is an agreed upon date that completed manuscripts and parent notes will be returned to Nationwide Learning. This will ensure that your published books are back to you in the time frame you need. We recommend sending the kits, using the prepaid UPS label, 1 week prior to the press date. Due to program popularity, press dates are available on a first come-first serve basis. Call today (800-867-2292) to schedule your date.

7. Can we write about any topic?

Yes! Some of our many popular themes include fantasy, travel, biography and autobiography, science fiction, family, and many more. Your students are only limited by their imagination. This program can be used cross-curriculum or as a stand-alone project. Here are some more book topic ideas...

8. Are parents required to purchase reprints?

Parents are under absolutely no obligation to purchase reprints. All we ask is that parents are given the opportunity to purchase reprints using the supplied parent send home notes. Reprints have proven to be very popular as keepsakes and gifts!

9. When and how do parents order reprints of their child's book?

We suggest that teachers send home notes and envelopes be distributed to parents during the writing process. Parents simply indicate on the form whether or not they wish to purchase reprints, sign the slip, and return it to the teacher in the envelope provided. Should they wish to purchase reprints, they complete the form and return it with payment. The teacher returns all slips with the publishing kit.

10. What if parents purchase but are dissatisfied with the reprints?

Those parents who choose to purchase reprints do so at absolutely no risk. If they are in any way dissatisfied with the full-color, hardbound reproduction, they may return it directly to Nationwide Learning with a note saying so. We will issue a prompt, complete refund...no questions asked!
